Been a very busy week for me. First there was the PC Show, where there were many people but overall sales for most brands was slow. Managed only about $18k of sales, way below my personal target of $40k. It did not help that this pu bor who is a Panasonic full-timer stole my $4999 42-inch Plasma TV sale! He better don’t let me see him again or I’ll spit in his face!
The past 2 days had been spent in Harbourfront where you get to meet people of similar levels of ignorance (sometimes coupled with arrogance) as the people on "The Peak" of Singapore- Boon Lay. Maybe Mount Faber nearby, so all swakoos! Among some of the "highlights" of my two days there:
1) This uncle came up to me and said my 20-inch LCD TV selling at $699 (Yes, $699! Hurry before stocks run out!) is way too expensive. He said he saw somewhere a 21-inch LCD (Yes, 21 inch! I wonder which manufacturer made that…) selling at $199! Well what more can I say but ask him go buy that one lor!
2) Another fella came and looked at the steam iron. The beginning of the conversation started normally enough…
He: I have a question to ask you about this iron.
Me: Sure, what would you like to find out?
He: I was thinking, if I am using the iron and then halfway…
Me: Yes, what about that?
He: And then I put my hand on the underside of the iron, would my fingers get burned?
Me: *&^%$#@! I don’t know about that because I don’t iron my own clothes…
Another genius also asked whether my $14.90 steam iron could be used without an ironing board… I really wonder…
Oh yes, the NUS Business School ad that has been the talk of town! Isn’t it such an inspired piece of work? I always knew that it was a great honour for me to be a student of NUS Business School, and the ad simply confirmed that. Now I can walk with my head held high when I proclaim to the world that is where I am working for my degree! I always knew somewhere in my mind that if I had not studied so hard, I would have received one of the less prestigious government overseas scholarships and be sent off somewhere, maybe Wharton. But thankfully I studied hard, so I am now in NUS, which is the preferred choice over any other overseas Unis!
Bet you that next intake, they will be begging people to apply for the overseas scholarships! You will also never hear of ministers’ and MPs’ children choosing to go overseas to further their studies, because these people are the one who say at every elections that they have worked hard to make the Singaproe education system first-world. As such, they will never even consider sending their children overseas where they will be receiving lower standards of education. The same goes for the HDB programmes which they also claim every five years they have been doing a wonderful job! Isn’t it a well-known fact that the job is so well-done and so perfect that every ruling-party MP insists on only staying in a HDB flat, and private property is out of the question?
OK, cukup. Don’t say more. Prison got no broadband. Have a good weekend ahead, all. Good luck with your World Cup bets too, though I’ll be seriously endeavouring to stay away. Even if not betting, just enjoy the matches, just like what I’ll be doing. Cheers!
