Singapore 2-0 Iraq

Monday, February 27th, 2006

Hehe glad I was there last Wednesday to watch the match! The result was something that could happen only once in 10 years or something Haha. Finally, after so many years, the national soccer team has gotten its act together & produced a magnificent effort. The result was nothing short of a miracle! A pity only about 10,000 people attended the match, but I’m glad I was there to be part of history haha. Pity I forgot to take a picture with the scoreboard! Haha

Anyway next match: Palestine vs Singapore on Wednesday night 10pm Singapore time. They are playing in Jordan, so I don’t think it’s very possible for me to attend the match at the stadium. Wonder if there will be live telecast though… If Singapore wins again then we will have a good chance of qualifying for the Asian Cup next year!

If we do qualify, maybe I might decide to celebrate my graduation in style by attending the matches live & going on a holiday at the same time. After all the matches will be held in Southeast Asia but not in Singapore… But first, we have to qualify… Haha. Wish the team luck!

FIGHT or Flight?… or FRIGHT?

This is one of those posts that I do expect responses and comments from my friends. I would also appreciate them because I am really wondering what my next course of action should be, so my friends, please advise me on what you would do if you are in my shoe k? Thanks lots!

The background of the story. I am in this particular project group. There is a general feeling of harmony and friendliness among the group members, and everyone is in the stage of getting to know one another better as well as getting into the scheme of getting work done.

Things have been going pretty alright so far, and no complaints/bitching/gossip has taken place. We are beginning to find a direction in our work, and everyone has been contributing, with no clear leader and no intention of appointing any shown. Contentment and harmony is the order of the day, if I may say so. Suddenly out of nowhere this fella sends this to all the other members of the group. Note: names have been disguised to protect identities of victims:

Hey people,

         I think we should meet up next week for our project. Before we meet up, I hope everyone can complile the focus group response. My agenda for the next meeting will be as follows;

1) Completion of questionaire questions

2) Collection of data

3) Tabulation and Analysis of data

4) Craft our marketing plan based on the findings from focus group and questionaires.

Besides the agenda for that day, I also want everyone to come prepared with some researches done. Refer below to see what topic you are going to do research on.

P—Macro-environmental trends of HS

H—Market analysis, including potential and actual market

K— competitive analysis

A—consumer analysis

M—Internal company analysis

X—Current marketing strategy and possible flaws–Place and Promotion

J—Current marketing strategy and possible flaws–Proce and product

I have to apologise for being so harsh on you all but I believe that’s the best for everyone. Can you guys send me through email(xxxxxx@msn.com) the time you will be available for meeting from 19th Feb to 26th Feb. Send me the email by this fri so I can inform you all when we are meeting.

J

Well, so what will you do if you were me? I always thought he was a decent guy, till now… Worse still, none of us have discovered the reason why he has to be "so harsh on us’, or why "that’s the best for everyone"…

Happy V Day

Tuesday, February 14th, 2006

Happy V Day people! Hope you all had fun celebrating.

Just wanna mention something special over the weekend for me. Went with The Wife to the esplanade for a concert. Was a concert of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra + Joi Chua. Somehow somebody managed to arrange for them to both perform together, and I think it was a pretty cool performance.

Some very special music played by the SCO, with some humour incorporated into their music. Very refreshing. Joi Chua also sang pretty well. Clear voice, which was pretty sweet too. Don’t regret buying the tickets for the performance. Seems The Wife has a knack of picking good performances to attend.

Going to sleep liao. Been a tiring past few weeks. Finally a couple of days to take a breather before things get crazy all over again. Goodnight all, Have a great week.

Not Say I don’t Want Move Back, Lah!

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006

More about SBS buses, and service 151. Was taking THAT bus again to school this morning, as usual. Boarded at opposite Ngee Ann Poly bus stop about 11.15am after a looooong wait, as usual. Bus was crowded again, as usual. Some people were refused entry due to lack of standing room, as usual.

Somehow in the confusion the bus driver was too engrossed in trying to squeeze everyone in the bus & forgot to shut the back door, & I sneaked in there in order to make sure that I could et to school on time. First tiem I ever tried such a stunt, but heck it. I was using the concession pass anyway.

Anyway then I saw this girl who was what I would call the "door-keeper". Refusing to move to the back, standing her ground at the door. From what I saw, if she moved back further space for 2 more people could be freed up, and 2 more people could stand on the steps at the front door and get to school on time. Anyways, I decided to fill up that gap.

Later on during the journey then I realised why she had refused to move back. It was not because she was selfish or whatever. There was a more practical reason. She needed to hold on to the grab pole at the door. If she had moved in abit more, she would be right in between the grab pole & the handle at the back of the seat right after the door. Since for once this was an air-con bus, there was the TV Mobile screen in between the door and the seat, meaning that the passengers sitting at that seat enjoyed First Class legroom by SBS standards! That also meant that if she had moved back she would be unable to grab anything for balance as she was too short to reach for the grab bar at the top, and her short arms probably could not reach front or back too! That explained everything… A side-effect of TV Mobile.

Anyway wanna wish everyone Happy Chinese New Year again. Probably won’t be blogging again too soon because school work is piling up by the tons again. In the meantime if you miss me please feel free to browse the old crap or leave some comments so that others have comments to read maybe? Haha. Just something to leave you with:

The writer badly needs a break and some sleep. Numerous projects and assignments and reports etc are keeping him very busy and stressed. Reservist now doesn’t seem that bad to him after all… He certainly hopes that somebody will offer to treat him on an overseas holiday somewhere, sometime, somehow…
